Among the aspects exposed by the new government, the free zone stands out, only exposing to move down the customs at kilometer 30 from the border and leaving doubts about its implementation. Therefore, under basic presumptions, we expose implications:
It is assumed that all types of customs legal acts are eliminated to import goods to the border, such as paperwork, taxes, rights, etc. They do not limit goods with special treatment. In principle, in a scenario of total openness on the border, it implies more exaltation in the tertiary sector, with an emphasis on commerce. The border would become an ideal place to consume.
It does not highlight anything about the Maquiladora, where having the IMMEX permit implies being able to import without taxes, manufacture and return abroad. So, will IMMEX permission no longer be required for this purpose? And the other benefits granted by said permission?
On the other hand, a growing, and perhaps expansive, activity necessarily implies price mobility. We must forecast the inflationary effect of this measure, to verify actions to contain counterproductive inflationary cycles.
We will expose more on this topic tomorrow.
