The differentiation of treatments to certain goods by the government and its policies, although argued based on protection of the maximum interests of an economy, the truth is that they violate in a clear manner the presumed guarantee of equality that a republican democracy must offer.
As an example, the importation of a car has so many specific requirements, regarding the importation of a desktop computer, it shows the protectionism of the government in the automotive sector, only really based on purely monetary arguments (sum of sales, taxes, and even salaries), that does not support protection of a greater good for the Mexican economy.
In the end, even if it sums up a sector, abstractly conceiving it as strategic, it really only seeks protection of particular interests from those of citizenship in its entirety.
Based on the foregoing, the idea of the free zone should homogenize the treatment of all the goods to be imported, and put aside such harmful protectionist policies. And if there is protectionism that can be scientifically justified, temporality is made and fixed, otherwise, only monopolistic practices are generated.
This would generate an ideal example of a competitive market, only restricted by sufficient security and environmental protection legislation. This market must then show the broad benefits of competition, against protectionism.
Similarly, goods such as fuels, medicines, innovative equipment for various subsectors, although with corresponding inherent regulations, would have greater viability to trade, yielding the benefits of free and competitive trade.
